 Introduction:
Today I would like to talk to
you about Franklin Delano Roosevelt. I learned a lot about Franklin
D. Roosevelt. I thought it was very neat that we had the chance
to study presidents. So now I am going to talk to you about President
Roosevelt.
 Birth / Early Life:
Franklin D. Roosevelt was bom on January 30, 1882. He was an
only child. His mom made him wear dresses and curly hair until
he was five years old. Franklin had a tutor until he was fourteen
years old. When he was not being tutored he spent most of his
time outdoors.
 Nine Years Old:
Franklin loved nature. He would often go into the woods with
his bow and arrow, and with his dog,
Marksman. He would spend endless hours in the woods. Franklin
loved to ride his pony, Debby. He also loved to go swimming in
the Hudson River. Franklin also liked to collect things.
 Teenage Years:
Franklin played football in his senior year of high school. When
Franklin was fourteen his father. hired a sea captain to teach
Franklin how to sail his yacht. Later his father bought Franklin
his very own yacht.
Franklin loved birds and the sea. He also liked anything that
had to do with the navy. He made model toys such as boats, and
ships. Franklin didn't have a lot of skills for sports, in fact
he barely made the schools football team. Franklin had a bad
case of scarlet fever. After several months Franklin recovered
from scarlet fever. The next fall Franklin had found out that
he had the mumps. Franklin had to wear glasses and braces on
his teeth.
 Young Adult:
After Franklin graduated from Harvard he decided that he would
sail to Europe. Franklin was very tall. When he graduated he
got a prize for Latin. Franklin was very happy and very proud
of himself.
 College Years:
When Franklin was in his freshman year of college his father
died. Theodore Roosevelt was Franklin's cousin, and he had recently
become the twenty sixth president of the United States. Franklin
was involved in many things, such as school plays, the debate
club, and singing in a choir. Franklin achieved many things.
He became an editor of the schools newspaper. Eventually Franklin
became the president of the newspaper, instead of an assistant
editor. Franklin had earned his college degree within, three
years. On June 24, 1903, Franklin graduated from Harvard.
 Marriage:
Franklin was married to Teddy Roosevelt's niece. Her name was
Anna Eleanor Roosevelt. They also had one daughter and five sons.
Franklin became a lawyer and later a state senator. In 1921,
Franklin got polio, and would never be able to walk again. Franklin
had to be in a wheelchair. He also became the Governor of New
York.
 Political Background / Presidential
Administration:
Franklin Roosevelt was the Governor of New York. He was not elected
for anything else. The first thing that Roosevelt told the people
that he would do was put people to work and bring happiness to
the homeless. Franklin always let the American people know what
he was going to do in the government. Franklin became President
of the United States in 1932. His vice presidents were John N.
Gamer, Henry A. Wallace and Harry S. Truman. He was also the
first president to use a radio to speak to the American people.
Franklin was re-elected in 1936. He was elected for a third term
in 1940, and also a fourth term in 1944.
 Death:
Roosevelt died on April 12, 1945. No other president will ever
or has ever served as long as he, did. The 22nd Amendment allows
every president to only serve for two terms. In closing I would
like to say the Franklin D. Roosevelt is a very neat president
and I'm sure every other president is neat too.
