The Swastika - A Symbol of Love

 

The swastika    is the symbol for a Buddhist temple. It is a symbol of love - not hate. The swastika can be seen throughout Korea.

Above: The small swastika was carved into a rock.

 

Left: The symbol.   is used on maps of Korea to indicate a temple. Many of the temples are in the mountains
      Any name ending in SA is a temple.
       NAM is the word for South.

 

Left & above: The swastika can be found on the sides of many buildings in a Buddhist monastery. The Buddhist swastika goes in a counter-clockwise direction.

 

The swastika can be seen on the end of the log beams on the underside of a roof overhang at the Tapsa Temple on Mt. Maisan.

 

  This swastika is part of a ceiling pattern.
