Prayer Rocks

In Korea stones are believed to have unseen powers They like to stack stones on top of each other, but using ancient skills and understanding, they are arranged in a beautiful manner.

Along the trails in Korea you see piles of rocks. A prayer will be said as the rock is put on the pile. By attaching a stone to another rock's surface is a better chance of having your prayer answered. The stack of rocks can become very high.

A beautiful site for a temple. In the early 1900's, hermit Yi Kap-ryong built over 80 stone pagodas over a ten year period as a prayer for peace. The ones behind the temple are 10 meters high. Symbolically, they function like the stone pagodas of Korea.
