Korean Fishing Industry

Korea is surrounded by water with the Yellow Sea on the west and the East Sea/Sea of Japan on the east and the Korea Strait on the south.

The fishing industry in Korea is the seventh largest in the world with a catch of 2.9 million metric tons per year.

Korea has 6,228 km of coastline and nearly 3,000 islands located mostly in the Yellow Sea and Korea Strait. Only a handful of them lie off the East Sea.
