Utah Centennial Passport by Bicycle
What is Utah Quest!?
Utah History is taught in the fourth grade and Utah
Studies in the seventh grade throughout Utah. Utah Quest!
is a program using the Utah Centennial Passport and cycling
to bring interest in geography and the history of Utah to the
students in Granite School District. It is hoped that the students
of other school districts in the 29 counties of Utah will become
involved and learn more about Utah's counties.
Pat King, who works in the Instructional Technology department
for Granite School District, has spent many years backpacking
or riding his bike throughout Utah. While working in one of the
schools he was shown a Centennial Passport and thought it would
be fun to drive to all of the counties. But, being a person who
likes challenges, he decided to ride by bicycle to all of the
counties instead. It is hope that through his photography and
details of each of his rides that he will help to make geography
and history more enjoyable to the students of Utah.
